General Session: Why Your Anti-Harassment Training Isn't Working, And How to Fix It
Anti-harassment policies and training have been a common feature of American workplaces for decades, yet workplace harassment remains a widespread problem. In this session, we'll discuss why your organization needs to devote additional time and resources to preventing workplace harassment, how effective training can play an important role in an anti-harassment program, and why traditional anti-harassment training doesn't work.

Breakout Sessions: 
#1: Another Tumultuous Year in the Labor World: From the Supreme Court to the Labor Boards, Changing Labor Laws Have Impacted Private, Public, and Non-Union Employers
As expected, the NLRB has not taken its foot off the gas pedal this year, and continues to issue decisions and guidance that have had dramatic impacts on private sector union and non-union workplaces. On the public-sector side, the Supreme Court issued the Janus decision, overturning precedent that had allowed unions to collect fair share fees from non-members for decades. This decision has dramatically impacted the way unions operate, and negotiate and interact with management. This session is designed for all employers - public, private, union and non-union. We will discuss the latest NLRB and public-sector labor law developments and how to address these developments in your workplace.

Join us for an interactive session that will address how best to handle unsupported or tricky accommodation requests.

General Session: Mitigating Workplace Violence Through Risk Assessment
Mass violence has become such a common occurrence in our culture that it is easy to become numb to it, and to conclude that there is nothing we can do about it. But this kind of violence is not inevitable or spontaneous. In this timely presentation, Dr. Nancy Zarse, a forensic psychologist and Professor at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, will provide a brief introduction to risk assessment and explain what employers can do to reduce the risk that their workplace will be part of the next tragic headline.

The U.S. Department of Labor's proposed regulations relating to:

Increasing the minimum salary threshold for those employees that are classified as exempt from the FLSA overtime requirements to $35,308 (from $23,660)
Clarifying what pay items must be included in (i.e., non-discretionary bonuses and shift differentials) and what pay items can be excluded (i.e., wellness program awards and discretionary bonuses) from the regular rate for purposes of calculating overtime wages
Potentially narrowing the scope of liability for companies in franchise relationships or temporary staffing arrangements

The U.S. Department of Labor's current position on tip pools and the 80/20 rule
The most common types of wage and hour claims (Invalid tip pools, misclassification issues, off the clock issues, miscalculation of overtime, and claims under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act)
Amendments to the Illinois Minimum Wage Law which drastically increase penalties for failure to pay minimum and overtime wages
